Forest Dump

VIDEO

OVERVIEW

Forest Dump is a one-minute experimental film that uses a mobile phone camera to create a unique first-person experience. The result is an unpredictable short film that generates excitement in a single continuous shot that leads the viewer into an exquisite world in anticipation for an unexpected outcome.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Forest Dump evokes tension, conflict and war. A low-angle shot was used to capture the “crawling” footage and hide the fact that the character could be in anyone’s ordinary yard with low grass. The piece generates conflict by creating this war scene in anyone’s backyard and leaving many questions open regarding the character, its location and intent, while tracing parallels between a war zone and the war many people face everyday in their own homes and lives.
